Valley of Fire, NV. 12.25.10

It's a partially overcast Christmas day at the Valley of Fire State Park. It was slightly on the chilly side but overall it was very nice day to be out at the park. The girls were busy climbing the rocks and wife was busy chasing after them... I was busy capturing the beautiful scenery with my camera. It was almost 8 years ago when we last visited here. Our lives have changed dramatically since but the amazing views at the park remain unchanged.

Off Malibu Canyon (Part 1). 12.10.10

I have been driving on Malibu Canyon road between Calabasas & Malibu for over an year now but never got a chance to stop by and take pictures on this scenic road. Today is the day after our company's holiday party, we have a day off. I started my 1st part of exploring... More to come in the near future. All images were captured by a Lifepixel converted 20D with Tamron 17-50/ f:2.8 at 17mm, custom white balance. Color channels mixed, level, hue & saturation adjusted in Photoshop. I like the eerie feeling from some of the images...

First experience with IR photography

These are the very first batch of infrared pictures I took dated back to November 7, 2008... I was always fascinated about IR photography and wanted to try it for a long time. I had been doing studies about wavelengths, digital camera IR conversions and the effect of various wavelength IR filters for a couple of months. I bought a glass cutter, a couple of hex screwdrivers, a Hoya R72 IR filter and an old Powershot G3 and started my 1st conversion. It took me a good hour to take apart the camera, replace the hot mirror in front of the sensor with IR cut filter and put everything back in one piece. I went to the Los Robles Golf Course Thousand Oaks and the Westlake Yacht Club and tried out the camera, it was an instant success. I fell in love with IR photography since.
